    Engine performance characteristics and evaluation of variation in the length of intake plenum

    In the engine with multipoint fuel injection system using electronically controlled fuel injectors has an intake manifold in which only the air flows and, the fuel is injected into the intake valve. Since the intake manifolds transport mainly air, the supercharging effects of the variable length intake plenum will be different from carbureted engine. Engine tests have been carried out with the aim of constituting a base study to design a new variable length intake manifold plenum. The objective in this research is to study the engine performance characteristics and to evaluate the effects of the variation in the length of intake plenum. The engine test bed used for experimental work consists of a control panel, a hydraulic dynamometer and measurement instruments to measure the parameters of engine performance characteristics. The control panel is being used to perform administrative and management operating system. Besides that, the hydraulic dynamometer was used to measure the power of an engine by using a cell filled with liquid to increase its load. Thus, measurement instrument is provided in this test to measure the as brake torque, brake power, thermal efficiency and specific fuel consumption. The results showed that the variation in the plenum length causes an improvement on the engine performance characteristics especially on the fuel consumption at high load and low engine speeds which are put forward the system using for urban roads.     The development of 3D simulation applications for Production of Multimedia Subjects is intended to provide exposure and convenience to teachers, especially prospective teachers of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris in exploring the 3D virtual world of the classroom and school environment in the context of learning and facilitate teachers to obtain daily information in finding relevant information. 3D. The objective of this study is to identify the 3D elements needed to build a school environment, design and develop a virtual reality application simulation application program that can be developed and evaluate the function of this 3D simulation application can help teachers teach and learn in schools. In addition, the use of applications such as simulators is basically for research and educational purposes. This study uses the ADDIE model used in the development of a 3D simulation application for this Multimedia Production subject. Simulation is capable of producing a virtual world of the surrounding atmosphere and a real environment. This Multimedia Production subject learning simulation can give students an idea of the learning environment in school. There is no denying that the use of simulation applications is not widespread as most of the available applications mostly focus on skills such as aeroplane piloting. With this, applications such as simulators are developed to give students an experience of the virtual learning environment

    A Review of Product Knowledge and Determinants of Consumer Purchase Intention on Plant-Based Meat Products In Malaysia

    Chronic diseases caused by poor health choices have been identified as a significant contributor to mortality. The poor dietary intake of Malaysians including high consumption of meat and other animal-based products may contribute to development of non-communicable diseases, such as obesity, hypertension, diabetes, and cancer. The amount of meat eaten by Malaysians per person has increased to more than 55 kg a year in 2019, and obviously, a transition towards plant-based diets is urgently needed. Nevertheless, product knowledge and determinants of consumer purchase intention of plant-based meat need to be explored further for Malaysians to effectively adopt a healthy diet.     Structural and Optical properties of Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes Modified by DBD Plasma at Atmospheric Pressure

    Structure, chemical, and physical properties of Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNTs) after modification by dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) at atmospheric pressure is investigated using Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Raman and Uv-vis-NIR spectroscopy. Effects of plasma treatment time on MWCNTs are analyzed. TEM result shows that during the short period of plasma treatment time of 5 minutes, the tube surface experienced a few damages. With increase in plasma treatment time, the tube surface is damaged to a certain extent. Intensity ratio, ID/IG through Raman analysis shows a good agreement with TEM. The values of ID/IG of the modified MWCNTs are larger than those of pristine MWCNTs. An increase of ID/IG indicates that considerable defects are produced on the surfaces of MWCNTs. The treated MWCNTs has energy band gap compared to zero band gap of untreated MWCNTs. It is believed that the defect site of MWCNTs can modify the electronics properties of MWCNTs from being metallic to semiconducting structure, which is applicable for almost all electronics device applications

    NO2 Gas Sensing Properties of Carbon Films Fabricated by Arc Discharge Methane Decomposition Technique

    In this work, a set of experiments has been conducted using arc discharge Methane decomposition attempting to obtain carbonaceous materials (C-strands) formed between graphite electrodes. The current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of the fabricated C-strands have been investigated in the presence and absence of two different gases, NO2 and CO2. The results reveal that the current passing through the carbon films increases when the concentrations of gases are increased from 200 to 800 ppm. This phenomenon is a result of conductance changes and can be employed in sensing applications such as gas sensors

    Peranan program mentoring dalam pembangunan pelajar: Satu kajian di sebuah universiti awam di Malaysia Timur

    Kajian ini dilaksanakan untuk mengukur impak program mentoring ke atas pembangunan pelajar. Kaedah tinjauan telah digunakan untuk menggumpul data daripada sampel kajian ini. Kajian ini menggunakan sampel 200 borang soalselidik yang diisi dengan lengkap oleh pelajar Semester Julai 2006 yang menuntut di kampus utama sebuah universiti awam di Malaysia Timur (KUVMT). Keputusan pengujian model kesan langsung menggunakan analisis regresi stepwise telah menunjukkan bahawa komunikasi di antara mentor dan mente mempunyai korelasi yang positif dan signifikan dengan prestasi pengajian dan psikososial mente, dan penyertaan dalam program mentoring mempunyai korelasi yang positif dan signifikan dengan prestasi pengajian mente. Manakala, penyertaan dalam program mentoring tidak mempunyai korelasi yang signifikan dengan psikososial mente. Dapatan ini mengesahkan bahawa komunikasi di antara mentor dan mente hanya bertindak sebagai pembolehubah peramal separuh dalam model program mentoring di organisasi kajian. Justeru itu, implikasi kajian ini terhadap teori dan amalan mentoring, batasan-batasan kerangka teori dan kaedah penyelidikan, serta cadangan akan datang turut dibincangkan dalam kajian ini

    Sektor pelancongan telah mengalami pertumbuhan yang berterusan dan menjadi salah satu sektor ekonomi yang paling berkembang pesat di dunia sekaligus menjadi pemacu utama dalam kemajuan sosioekonomi. Aset pelancongan merupakan elemen penting dalam industri pelancongan. Terdapat beberapa elemen aset pelancongan di sesebuah destinasi seperti (1) tarikan (attractions), (2) ketersampaian (accessibility), (3) kemudahan (amenities), (4) pakej pelancongan (available packages), (5) aktiviti pelancongan (activities) dan (6) perkhidmatan sampingan (ancillary services). Lembah Beriah merupakan salah satu kawasan di dalam Daerah Kerian, Perak dan memiliki taburan bentuk muka bumi yang menarik dan boleh dibangunkan untuk menjadi salah satu pusat pelancongan di Malaysia. Kajian ini bertujuan mengenalpasti aset pelancongan yang berpotensi untuk dibangunkan sebagai produk pelancongan di Lembah Beriah. Berdasarkan kaedah kuantitatif menggunakan borang soal selidik yang diedarkan kepada 300 orang komuniti di Lembah Beriah mendapati bahawa terdapat kepelbagaian aset pelancongan di Lembah Beriah yang menarik dan berpotensi dibangunkan sebagai produk pelancongan, terdiri daripada produk alam semula jadi dan buatan manusia. Aset pelancongan alam semulajadi meliputi sawah padi dan tasik sementara aset pelancongan budaya dan warisan merangkumi seni silat, kraftangan dan gastronomi setempat

    Tujuan dan Latarbelakang: Kualiti penyampaian khidmat kerja sosial oleh pegawai kebajikan masyarakat dipengaruhi oleh latar belakang pengetahuan dan kemahiran kerja sosial yang mereka miliki. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menilai tahap pengamalan praktis kerja sosial dalam kalangan pegawai kebajikan di Malaysia.   Metodologi: Pendekatan kuantitatif yang menggunakan reka bentuk tinjauan telah dilakukan ke atas 305 orang Penolong Pegawai dan Pembantu Pembangunan Masyarakat Gred 19 hingga Gred 38 terpilih yang berkhidmat di Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat di seluruh negara. Persampelan rawak mudah digunakan bagi mendapatkan responden. Tahap pengamalan terhadap praktis kerja sosial diukur berdasarkan Kerangka Kompetensi Kerja Sosial Nasional Singapura dan Piawaian Kompetensi Praktis Kerja Sosial Kebangsaan.   Dapatan: Tahap pengamalan terhadap praktis kerja sosial dalam kalangan responden menunjukkan skor yang tinggi.   Sumbangan: Bersandarkan dapatan kajian, tiga inisiatif bagi meningkatkan lagi kualiti pengamalan dan penyampaian praktis kerja sosial dalam kalangan pegawai kebajikan di negara ini telah dicadangkan iaitu i) pengukuhan program latihan; ii) penetapan semula maksud kecekapan dalam pengamalan; dan iii) penetapan pengamalan berdasarkan kod etika.   Kata kunci: Tahap pengamalan, praktis kerja sosial, penyampaian khidmat kerja sosial, pegawai kebajikan, Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat Malaysia (JKM).   ABSTRACT Background and Purpose: The quality of social service delivery by welfare officers is influenced by the knowledge and social work skills they possess. This paper aims to study the level of social work practice among welfare officers in Malaysia.   Methodology: A quantitative approach using survey design was used to collect data from 305 Community Development Assistant Officers and Community Development Helper Grades 19 through 38 who served in the Social Welfare Department across Malaysia.  The respondents were selected using simple random sampling. The level of social work practice was measured using the Singapore National Social Work Competency Framework and the National Social Work Practise Competency Standards.   Findings: The findings showed that the level of social work practice among the respondents is at high score.   Contribution: Based on the findings, three initiatives to improve the quality of social work practce among welfare officers are recommended: i) strengthening training programs; ii) redefining the meaning of practice; and iii) establishing practice based on ethical code.   Keywords: Level of practise, social work practise, welfare officer, delivery of social services, Department of Social Welfare Malaysia (JKM)   Cite As: Siti Hajar, A.     Impedance spectroscopy analysis of Al/100-plane AlN/p-Si MIS prepared by HiPIMS method for tailoring dielectric properties

    The effects of variation of sputtering pressure of AlN HiPIMS deposition on Si substrate to the structure and electrical properties were investigated through XRD, AFM and impedance spectroscopy method. The strong preferred 100-plane AlN was observed for all samples from XRD pattern. The AlN thin film thickness was observed decrease with the increase of sputtering pressure. AFM analysis shows the lowest surface roughness at 0.84 nm for 5 mTorr sputtering pressure. Impedance spectroscopy analysis of Al/100-plane AlN/Si MIS structure shows the electrical conductivity of AlN was directly proportional to the sputtering pressure and stable with temperature ranging from room temperature (299 K) to 353 K. Good dielectric stability was achieved at 3 mTorr sputtering pressure for all variation temperature and the dielectric constant calculated at average 3.5
